A Hammock in the Sky

Something tells me, when I pray
You’re safe, and smiling and okay…
Swaying gently, side to side
In a hammock, in the sky

Your arms are crossed behind your head
You take a deep, relaxing breath
Your pains have long faded away…
And there you are, in God’s embrace

You stood out from the rest, by far
You had a kind and caring heart
You’d give your last penny away
If it meant making someone’s day

It hurts so much, to be alive
Without you, somewhere by my side…
Now, or a in a million years
I’d cry the same amount of tears

But something tells me to be brave
It must be you, trying to say
That I should probably get some rest
And take a deep, relaxing breath

For something tells me, when I pray
You’re only a few clouds away…
Just swaying, as the days go by
In a Hammock, in the sky.

For many of us, faith is the only thing that can help us through tragedy and loss. That connection to a Higher Power does not take the pain away, but it can offer some comfort. There is reassurance in believing that the souls of our loved ones truly are at peace and are somehow taken care of.

Though we will never have all the answers about death and the afterlife, we can opt to believe in more than just what's in front of us. Picture it: a place without worry, physical pain and earthly limitations. A place where people sway all day...in hammocks in the sky.
